2020 Ford Defender Police Interceptor Utility

The Fastest Pursuit Vehicle On The Market

Introducing the 2020 Ford Interceptor Utility

Ford has announced the all-new 2020 Ford Interceptor Utility and it is one of the most impressive machines Defender Supply has ever had a chance to upfit! Not only is the 2020 Ford Utility the fastest police vehicle on the market when equipped with the 3.0L EcoBoost® engine, but hybrid version holds the title of the first-ever pursuit-rated hybrid utility. Whether your department is looking for raw speed or fuel efficiency, the 2020 Ford Interceptor Utility is a great addition to your department’s fleet.

Hybrids for Police Departments?

Hybrids bring to mind slow, bulky cars and higher price tags but the new Utility Interceptor shows just how a performance vehicle can benefit from a hybrid system. This no-nonsense utility vehicle is equipped with full-time Intelligent AWD, an all-new 10-speed transmission, and a state-of-the-art 3.3L V6 Hybrid engine. But don’t let the “hybrid” frighten you, the Ford Interceptor Utility puts out 318 combined system horsepower and 322 foot-pounds of torque. With a top speed of 136 mph, this hybrid won’t have any issues pursuing and overtaking other vehicles on the road.

In fact, in tests by the Michigan State Police and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility Hybrid  beat out the competition in 0-100 acceleration, fastest lap time, and top speed.

More than just speed, torque, and acceleration, the 2020 Hybrid Interceptor Utility offers departments something even more important: cost savings. The Hybrid engine system allows for an EPA-estimated combined fuel efficiency rating of 24 miles per gallon. Ford estimates a department could save over $3,500 per vehicle per year in fuel savings alone when choosing the Hybrid. (See brochure for details.)

Fastest Utility Interceptor with 3.0L EcoBoost

If a hybrid engine isn’t what your department is looking for, Ford offers two other engine options in the 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility: a 3.3L V6 Non-Hybrid Gas engine and the 3.0L EcoBoost V6.

The 3.3L Non-Hybrid engine offers similar performance as the hybrid engine: 285 hp, 260 lb-ft at 4000 rpm, and 7.6″ ground clearance. The non-hybrid engine options offers a slight discount on MSRP compared to the standard hybrid system.

EcoBoost Utility Interceptor Speed Test Performance

Alternatively, you can upgrade your Police Interceptor Utility with the 3.0L EcoBoost V6. With Ford’s famed EcoBoost engine, the Interceptor Utility achieves 400 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 415 foot-pounds of torque at 3,000 rpm. In this configuration, the 2020 Ford Police Utility Interceptor is the fastest pursuit vehicle available.  With a top speed of 150 mph, the 3.0L EcoBoost-equipped Police Interceptor has set records for the fastest 0-60 acceleration, fastest 0-100 acceleration, fastest lap time, highest average lap speed, and highest top speed versus the competition. In fact, the new 3.0L version has outdone the older 3.5L EcoBoost used in earlier models.
